Lately...

Lately, my thoughts have been toward summer. Paul and I have been thinking about a vacation. He needs to get out of town and he actually wants to take 4 girls with him. He must be crazy, but that is good. We have been toying with different ideas of where to go. San Diego, Flagstaff, AZ, San Francisco, Sacramento, June Lake, Lake Tahoe... We are still in negotiations and if you have any great ideas please feel free to share them. We have one week plus the weekend in July. We are cheap, fugal, or whatever you want to call it. But we do want to do the sights seeing things where ever we go.

We went to San Fransico in 2007 for the summer and we LOVED it! We flew up to Oakland and then rented an SUV for the drive home along the coast. It was gorgeous and not too expensive either! Of course, I was working full time at a great job then. But we made it cheaper by staying in Hayward and driving into San Fran for the two days we stayed there and then just planning our stops along the coast at less expensive towns. It was great! I highly recommend it! Definitely check out Big Sur on the way down, and Solvang - always a fan favorite! :)

Are you memebers of AAA? The Railroad trip to the Grand Canyon is a blast and an amazing deal! You drive to Williams, AZ and stay in a 4Star hotel, meals included, and a gift certificate to the gift shop, 2 nights and 3 days plus a train trip to the Grand Canyon and a bus tour of the rim. In peak season, I believe it is 165/person. Truly it is one of the best vacation deals around. We were given instructions to a LONG way home through AZ that is supposed to be beautiful. You can stop in AZ and see the sigts.
WE LOVE PRICELINE! When I was working we were always using it to go on vacations for less than $100 for the weekend. Try it and see! We usually get Sheraton or Marriot rooms for $40/night. GREAT DEAL!
This may sound crazy too, but we have friends that vacation using deals on EBAY. There are always auctions for timeshare stays and our friends have never had a bad experience!
